Full-Time vs Part-Time REALTOR®

November 24, 2020 by Megan Gullotta

These days, it seems as though everyone knows a Real Estate Agent, am I right?! In fact, there are over 206,000 licensed REALTORS®  in California, and over 15,000 in just Orange County! But have you ever asked your boyfriends, aunts, cousin if they’re a full-time or part-time REALTOR®? When it comes down to hiring someone to help you buy or sell a house, it’s important to know how committed they are to you and your financial future!

Part-Time Agents

These guys might only work a few hours a week on real estate, but also have a full-time, 9-5 job. Or maybe selling real estate is just a hobby & as their friends need a realtor they do it at a discounted rate because selling is not their sole income. Let me ask you, if someone is only spending a few hours a week on real estate, or only taking business as it comes, do you think they’re the most qualified to guide you in buying or selling a house? The answer is simple, no. Just like most anything else, you have to put time & effort into being a great agent. For example, football players don’t make an NFL team for putting in a few hours a week. They are in it everyday, studying plays & striving to be better.

Full-Time Agents

Full-time agents are always learning. We are always taking classes, going to events, listening to webinars, podcasts, books, you name it. Just to better our business and become a better REALTOR®. Full-time agents work day in and day out on their business. We are always looking for the next person we can help achieve their goals of homeownership, trading-up houses, downsizing or investing! While we’re on the search for a new person to help, we often run into off-market opportunities as well as potential “coming soon” opportunities for our clients. This is a huge benefit especially in our current market with low inventory. Leading me to my next point, we know the current inventory of houses, looking at the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) is a part of our daily activities. Lastly, talking to other REALTORS® and building agent relationships is equally as important! Knowing & trusting the agent on the other side of a transaction is a huge plus and promotes a smooth transaction.

Bottom Line

Ask the person you know if they’re full-time, or part-time! The answer may surprise you. If you want a full-time REALTOR® that is committed 100% to you & the real estate industry, lets talk. Please reach out to me directly with any questions or send me a private message.
